# Monthly Community Update: September 2026

September brought activity and life back to the community after the summer holiday break as we welcomed new Governance Board members and started discussions about the community's financial state and how to sustain it moving forward. We also attended another edition of the AsyncAPI Conference; let's unpack what happened over the month.

## New Governance Board Members

We are excited to welcome three new members to the AsyncAPI Governance Board. Thank you to all the TSC members who took the time to cast their vote and help shape the next phase of our governance.

We look forward to their contributions and leadership to the initiative.

## State of AsyncAPI

As we continue to assess the community's current state, the governance board is proposing changes, as we've had a very challenging financial year because most of our sponsors didn’t renew.

While this will certainly impact most of our programs and how we work in the coming year, it's also important to start thinking about the community's sustainability and how we can distribute the work while furthering our community goals.

Please join the open discussion on [Sustaining the Community Forward - Planning for 2027](https://github.com/asyncapi/community/issues/3634) and share your ideas and thoughts.

## AsyncAPI Conferences

Over the past week, we headed to FOST London for the AsyncAPI Conference track and at the API Standards booth. It was great to see community members and interact with conference attendees who were curious about what we do at AsyncAPI.

Huge thanks to the speakers who also took time to speak on the track, share their knowledge, and volunteer at the booth.

### Online Conference
Preparation for the Online Conference is well underway, as speakers have been confirmed and are now waiting to receive recordings and start planning for the agenda.

We'll announce a call for volunteers soon, so if you would like to help and contribute to the community, this is one way to get involved. Be sure to keep an eye out for the announcement.

### Paris

We’re exploring something new for the Paris edition this year: a joint API Standards Conference with OpenAPI, GraphQL, and JSON Schema for all 3 days. While we’re busy aligning on the details with each community representative, keep an eye out for the announcements, CFP deadline or follow the discussion on [Groups.io](https://groups.io/g/api-standards).

## Looking Ahead

In the coming months, we will continue focusing on community sustainability. While there will be some adjustments, it is important to remember that the AsyncAPI community is built by all of us, and every contribution helps move the project forward.

Be sure to contribute to the discussions and share your insights.
